Simon's passing is such a great loss to many of us, of course to his family, and also to those who's lives have been enriched by his presence, ideas, support and humour. I was always impressed by Simon's obvious dedication to his work, to improving and making things better, his energy, positivity and can-do approach, but perhaps more importantly his way with others. Although I did not know Simon very well, I always enjoyed our conversations; he always spoke so lovingly about his family and was clearly a very proud man. So sorry to read of Simon's sudden death. I worked with him in the council until 2021 and one memory that comes to mind is from the annual Intelligence and Policy Christmas quiz. I was always pleased if I ended up on his team as he was good at so many things - particularly the Pictionary round in which he was exceptional! I'm not saying his drawings were great(!) - but he had a definite talent for conveying the key bit of information really quickly. Sending my deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
