So sorry to learn of this tragedy. I've only just been told. I wanted to send my condolences to Sarah and the girls, on behalf of my late Mum, June Fallon. I think of Simon often as i try to make sense of impact information to do our job of raising collective funds for communities .. he was genius at breezing through complicated sets of data and converting them into information and trends that you could visualise ... easy to digest. He was also genuinely nice and thoughtful. I am so glad he agreed to join our new impact subcommittee. He kept us realistic and in track... how are we going to use the data we planned to collect? And what would it add? I still can't believe he's gone. Our lives are so much the poorer. Sincere condolences to his family. From Leeds Community Foundation team and trustees.

I am so sad to hear of Simon's passing. I knew Simon from my early years in and around Brookhouse. We were in the Scouts together and I remember doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks with him. We camped overnight behind the pub at Ribblehead. Looking at the photo memories, I can see we shared a passion for the outdoors, skiing, walking and cycling. We also played in the Scouts 5 aside tournament at Lancaster University which we won. My condolences to family and friends.

Working with Simon was such a pleasure and genuinely a real highlight of my time working at the University of Leeds. I found Simon to be such a genuinely kind, sunny and knowledgeable colleague and I learned so much from him during our time working together. My last in-person interaction with him was when he interviewed me for a role earlier this year, and I had to do a ten-minute brief with him impersonating Tom Riordan. He was so kind, putting me at ease and even making me laugh during the interview which is such a testament of his kind nature as so many people have attested to. I will really miss Simon

As a colleague in the Leeds system I didn't know Simon well, but I always enjoyed working with him. He was a kind and humble man, who was always accessible and approachable. Simon will be sadly missed in Leeds. My thoughts go out to Simon's family and friends.

I was so sad to hear the terrible news about Simon who I knew through working with him at Yorkshire Forward for about 10 years. He was a really genuine, down to earth person who was fun to be with and who always gave his time to help you. I’ll always remember our long chats about cycling particularly when a big race was on where he would recount which mountain he’d ridden up in the alps/Pyrenees and how hard it was ! He obviously loved being outdoors whether that was cycling, walking or cross country skiing - a real man of the mountains. One day when we were talking about music he told me that I should listen to some proper music like Jah Wobble - this has always stuck with me because at first I didn’t know who this was. So Simon I’ll be taking your recommendation and playing some tracks from the great man in your memory. Rest in peace my friend.

I only worked with Simon for 10 years, he was an awesome colleague, excellent leader, very impactful, and very supportive. Loved that he was so direct and what you saw was what you got! He’ll be sorely missed by so many. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

Simon was such a warm, supportive and generous person who always responded so positively to requests and suggestions that came from my part of the Leeds system (voluntary community and faith organisations). He was so committed to getting things right for Leeds through full and rounded insights, but this was never dry: always with humour and creativity. My thoughts with his family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time, but I hope that knowing what a massive positive impact he has had will help in some small measure.

Simon was a committed and enthusiastic member of Yorkshire Dales Cross Country Ski Club who fulfilled some important roles for the club during his time as a member. He held the important position of Club Secretary as well as helping out as Equipment Officer and leading walks in the Dales. In his capacity as Secretary and committee member his contributions to matters were always knowledgeable and helpful at an important time when the clubs membership was growing. His good nature and friendly manner was an asset and he was well liked and respected by those club members who he came in contact with him. We will miss you Simon.

Simon and I had a relationship that lasted 59 years. I learnt so much from his wisdom; sincerity and friendship. As kids Simon always saw the world differently; a characteristic that I admired and as we grew older his perspectives were so aligned with my own I realised I was his best pupil. I cannot believe I won’t see you in this world but he will always be in my heart. Kev

I have so many good memories of Simon. He was a great support to me when i started at Yorkshire Forward with no knowledge at all of Economic development. I learnt, we talked, we laughed a lot. He was as you say, a kind, genuine, funny and authentic individual. He was a great colleague to work and is an enormous loss. I have dontaed to Coniston rescue in his name. I wont be able to attend his funeral but will be with you in spirit x
